When to Resume Relations

The general consensus on when to resume sex is when you feel ready and your Bartholin problem has cleared up. The difficulty is that many women find that sex aggravates the area and can cause recurrences especially if the area isn't well lubricated and it is rough. Good hygeine and salt bathing after sex is likely to help. I personally believe that drinking enough water especially after sex helps and staying generally well hydrated. It is just my theory but I think that the secretions may thicken up when you are dehydrated and may help blockages occur. It is a good practice anyway, even if my theory is wrong, as it helps to prevent cystitis or UTI's. I know reading that sex can cause them to recur is hardly a turn on and can cause real worry but it is only a possibilty. If you wait until the area really feels back to normal chances are this won't happen. If you do get another then I recommend a follow up trip to the Doctor/Gyno (assuming you went originally) and this time wait a while longer to be really sure. Don't let it discourage you too much as it would be a shame to let the little devils win and spoil your fun!
