Important Information
Make sure you read and understand this BEFORE posting to the board.
I have set up the board to be as easy to use as possible and as much fun. To do this I have allowed anyone to post without registration. This means that if anyone posts to the board they are pretty much anonymous and not I nor Boards2go have any form of comeback on people who post.
Please keep in mind safety issues when posting and don't give out too much information online anywhere. Especially be careful about information which could personally identify you or your location and about info related to your computer which may compromise its security.
Please note when posting in the field "name" that your typed name will be displayed on your posting so you may not want to give your full name out or may wish to use a false name. In the "Email" field if you type in your email address this can be used by other posters to contact you. If you wish to keep your email address private then leave this field blank.
Always have installed and running a firewall and virus scanner to protect your pc while you are online. It is much better than having to spend hours fixing it afterwards and lamenting your lost files. A couple of free firewalls are Zonealarm and Sygate Personal Firewall. They also have pay versions with additional features.
A free virus scanning program is Grisoft's AVG.
Useful programs to have are adware removal tools. Adware is software which is installed on your pc without your permission and which usually connects out to send usage information away in order to deliver targeted marketing to you or worse. I'm not saying you will get this by posting to the message board. This is just for the info. Two good programs are Ad-aware and SpybotS&D
This message board does not store old posts after it hits 300 messages. When it gets to the 301th message it deletes the first message posted and continues to delete old messages to make room for the new ones thereafter.
On the boards I have allowed posting of links and HTML and insertion of pictures. This can be a problem if somebody malicious uses the board to post a fake link which installs their virus/trojan/malware or that takes you somewhere it shouldn't. If you have an up to date virus scanner and firewall running you are unlikely to encounter any troubles. It's not impossible but neither are aliens landing. I don't think anyone is likely to use this board in that way given its subject matter but I'm very vigilant and keep an eye on postings as much as is possible given the time I have. I also understand that BGA/C's are a sensitive issue and won't stand for any messing!! (ie bullying, teasing, flaming etc)
All the above is just a precaution and this message board is here for you to share and enjoy so hopefully all that hasn't put you off completely.
